What a Drain Cleaning Actually Fixes
One job, done completely: get the obstruction out of the drain and bring back normal flow.
That’s the everyday drains: a kitchen sink dragging because of grease and food debris, bathroom sinks and showers choked with hair and soap scum, laundry and basement floor drains that back up or smell. In each case the blockage sits in that fixture’s drain or its branch — a local problem with a local solution: clear it, and it’s solved.
What a clearing can’t fix is a broken pipe. When the same drain slows again weeks after a visit, or several fixtures back up together, the trouble is usually further downstream — in a shared branch or the sewer lateral itself. An honest plumber says so instead of booking you a third clearing. That pattern calls for an inspection of the line, which is sewer line repair territory, not another routine visit.
